Specialized contractors continue working on plans to expand Baalbek’s sorting and composting plant and the creation of a new sanitary landfill. The sorting plant is being rehabilitated to increase its capacity while excavation works for the nearby sanitary landfill have begun in line with required technical specifications. Construction works are expected to be completed by the beginning of January 2019.

In framework N° 1 of the project financed by the European Union “Technical support for development of solid waste management capacities in Lebanon” ENPI/2017/389-095, six local regional solid waste management plans have been developed and sent to the Ministry of Environment and the European Union

Construction works are pressing on through for the development a sanitary landfill next to the sorting and composting plant in Jib Jinnine that will be able to process about 50 tons of waste per day.
